Not everyone realises tartan sashes, one of our most popular Highland accessories, come in more than one style. Our experienced team made the tartan sashes for both men and women and we make every style handmade from pure acrylic wool for your perfect Highland dress. If you don't see a specific tartan in our sash collection, we can make it for you on custom order. Men and women wear tartan sash a bit differently. Ladies usually put their sash over the right shoulder and pin it at the front, often worn on top of a dress. A man tartan sash is worn over the left shoulder instead, held with a kilt brooch, as part of a complete kilt outfit rather than a dress. Width tends to differ slightly between the two as well.

Wedding Tartan Sashes for Brides and Grooms

This is where most of these actually get worn, and it's not just the bride.

Plenty of brides wear a sash over a white dress as a way of bringing some Scottish tradition into the wedding day or Burns Night Out. It sits over one shoulder and gets pinned so it stays neat against the dress. Grooms and groomsmen wear theirs differently, matched to the rest of what they're wearing rather than to a dress. For some couples it is a favourite idea to tie their sashes to a particular bride's tartan, or even to their own family's tartan so that the wedding party will become somewhat unified. It is soft on your skin, holds up well through a full day of wear so you feel comfortable, and is easy enough to take care of, which matters if you're in it for hours at something like a wedding.

Sizing Guide and Contact

Most of our sashes run somewhere between 70 and 90 inches long, and about 3 to 12 inches wide, depending on the style. But we do customise for you if you want a different length. Get in touch and we'll help you work it out before you order.
